MoIYsis (Molzym)
German-based Molzym, a manufacturer committed to innovative solutions for biological research and diagnosis of infectious diseases. Molzym’s developmental efforts are particularly focused on new processes enabling and facilitating the molecular diagnosis of diseases caused by bacteria and fungi.
Molecular biological methods particularly polymerase chain reaction (PCR), are generally accepted as promising means of culture-flanking methods for early sepsis diagnosis, mostly because of its rapidity of time-to-result and independence of growth of strains. Molzym's diagnostic products focus on proprietary technologies for the selective isolation of pathogen DNA from various clinical specimens.
MoIYsis (Bacterial DNA Isolation)
MoIYsis is a tool for the removal of human DNA and enrichment of bacterial cells that, combined with DNA purification systems, leads to the selective isolation of target DNA. In a short series of steps, the MoIYsis technology effects the selective lysis of blood cells and the quantitative degradation (> 99%) of released human DNA. After bacteria have been enriched from the lysate by centrifugation, they are treated with BugLysis reagent, degrading the cell walls of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
Purification of bacterial DNA can be performed using any commercial DNA isolation kit, including manual and automated systems. Alternatively, a kit is available combining the MoIYsis procedure with a manual Mini spin DNA purification protocol. For blood culture, a kit is supplied effecting the removal of strong PCR inhibitors and the isolation of pure bacterial DNA. All reagents used in MoIYsis products are guaranteed DNA-free. MoIYsis is specifically useful for the detection of bacteria by PCR or Real-Time PCR assays, including Molzym’s DNA-free Mastermix 16S products. |
